How much does digital marketing cost in Kerala? A clear 2026 price guide
"How much will digital marketing cost me?" is the first question almost every business owner asks me. The honest answer is: it depends on what you need. But "it depends" is not helpful, so here is a clear guide to what digital marketing really costs in Kerala in 2026, what affects the price, and how to spend wisely as a small business in Idukki or anywhere in Kerala.
The short answer
For a small or medium business in Kerala, expect to pay roughly:
- Freelancer monthly packages: about ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 a month, depending on how many services are included.
- Agency monthly retainers: about ₹25,000 to ₹1,00,000+ a month, especially in Kochi, Trivandrum and Calicut.
- Ad budget (paid to Meta or Google): extra, usually ₹300 to ₹1,000 a day to start.
- One-time work: websites from ₹10,000, logo and branding from ₹5,000, a festival campaign pack from ₹4,000.
The rest of this article explains where those numbers come from, so you can judge any quote you receive.
What you are actually paying for
Digital marketing is not one thing. A monthly fee usually covers a mix of these services, and the more you include, the higher the price:
- Google Business Profile and local SEO: getting found on Google Maps when people search "near me". Low cost, high value for local businesses.
- Social media management: planning, designing and posting content on Instagram and Facebook. Price depends on how many posts and reels per month.
- Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram): campaign setup, creatives, targeting and optimisation. Charged as a management fee; the ad spend itself is separate.
- Google Ads: search campaigns for people already looking for your service. Also a management fee plus ad spend.
- Website and landing pages: usually a one-time cost, sometimes with a small monthly maintenance fee.
- Reporting: a monthly report showing enquiries, calls and cost per lead, so you know what worked.
Typical monthly packages in Kerala (freelancer rates)
Most freelancers, including me, offer three levels. Here is what each level normally includes and costs:
Google Business Profile with weekly posts, review management, 6 to 8 social media posts and a monthly report. Best for shops, clinics and small service businesses that just need to be found online.
Everything in Starter plus 12+ posts and reels, poster and ad designs, Meta Ads management and a monthly review call. Best for resorts, homestays, institutes and businesses that want steady enquiries.
Everything in Growth plus Google Ads, website updates, local SEO pages and weekly calls. Best for businesses with bigger budgets that want maximum growth across Kerala.
My own packages follow this structure. You can see exactly what each one includes on my proposal and packages page.
Freelancer vs agency: why the prices differ
Agencies have offices, teams and account managers, and those costs are built into your fee. A freelancer works directly with you and has lower overheads, so the same scope of work is often 30 to 50 percent cheaper. You also talk to the person who actually plans your strategy and designs your posts, which usually means faster replies and fewer misunderstandings.
Agencies make sense for large brands that need a big team. For most businesses in Idukki and small-town Kerala, an experienced freelancer gives better value. Read how to choose the best digital marketing freelancer in Idukki for what to check before you hire anyone.
Ad budget: the cost people forget
Your marketer's fee and your ad budget are two different things. The ad budget is paid by you, directly to Meta or Google, using your own card. A good marketer will never ask you to pay the ad spend to them personally.
- Small local business: ₹300 to ₹500 a day (₹9,000 to ₹15,000 a month) is a sensible start.
- Resorts and homestays in season: ₹700 to ₹1,500 a day, because you are competing for tourists from Kochi, Bengaluru and Chennai. (If you are around Thekkady, see my guide for businesses in Vandiperiyar and Periyar.)
- Institutes and clinics: ₹500 to ₹1,000 a day during admission or campaign periods.

One-time costs
- Landing page: from ₹10,000. One fast page with your offer and a WhatsApp button, ideal for ad campaigns.
- Business website: ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 for several pages with SEO built in, plus domain and hosting of roughly ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 a year.
- Logo and brand kit: ₹5,000 to ₹15,000.
- Setup fee: many marketers charge a one-time fee to clean up your Google profile, create ad accounts and set up tracking before monthly work starts.
- Festival campaign pack: ₹4,000 to ₹10,000 for Onam, Christmas, Vishu or Eid posters and ads.
What makes the price go up or down
- Number of posts and reels: video content takes longer to shoot and edit than a poster.
- Number of platforms: Instagram only is cheaper than Instagram, Facebook, Google and YouTube together.
- Ad management: running ads every month needs daily monitoring, so it adds to the fee.
- Photography and video shoots: on-site shoots in Munnar, Thekkady or Vagamon are usually quoted separately.
- Languages: content in both Malayalam and English may cost a little more.
- Contract length: most freelancers ask for a 3-month minimum because results need time, and some give a better rate for 6 or 12 months.
Warning signs of a bad deal
- Guaranteed "number one on Google" or a fixed number of followers. Nobody can honestly guarantee that.
- Very cheap packages, for example ₹3,000 a month for "everything". Usually that means copied templates and no real strategy.
- Ad spend paid to the marketer instead of directly to Meta or Google.
- No monthly report, or reports that only show likes and followers instead of calls and enquiries.
- Accounts created in the marketer's name instead of yours. You should always own your pages and ad accounts.
How to budget as a small business in Kerala
A simple rule: start with one clear goal, for example 30 WhatsApp enquiries a month, and choose the smallest package that can reach it. Add an ad budget of ₹300 to ₹500 a day. Review the numbers after 3 months. If the cost per enquiry is good, increase the budget; if not, fix the strategy before spending more. Marketing should pay for itself, and a good marketer will show you the numbers to prove it.
